Rough Trade & Jarvis Cocker

Rough Trade is soon to be 30 years old. This means that it will not be wearing any more print t shirts, will grow a beard and find sheds desirable. This also means it’ll have to shell out on a decent birthday party with proper disco lights and a DJ. Or rather its parents Geoff and Jeannette will, because as with so many of today’s 30 year olds its not yet reached a state of financial independence. Luckily for us they’re very proud of such an over achieving offspring and are gladly going to spoil it and all it’s friends by throwing five big parties across the country!

Celebrations will feature only the finest musics known to man’s ears, selected and mixed by national treasure Jarvis Cocker, who will also be providing us with a Rough Trade ‘This Is Your Life’ presentation along with projector, an as yet confirmed pointing stick and a live a musical set! As if that wasn’t enough, another of Rough Trade’s most prodigious artists, Jeffrey Lewis, will be gracing us with his usual mix of lyrics and libraries… Comic book libraries of course, for the uninitiated this might make sense of it:

Rough Trade has always been about discovering the new, exploring the unknown & giving a voice to those who would otherwise remain unheard. And they’re still doing it 30 years on. This is no dewy-eyed nostalgia trip – it’s an on-going revolution. Stand up & be counted! (Actually, comfortable seating IS available in most of the venues – should you require it).
