Goat Girl release new single ‘words fell out’ – Album out this Friday

London trio Goat Girl are sharing ‘words fell out’ today, the third and final single from their new album Below The Waste which drops this Friday, June 7th on Rough Trade Records. The track is accompanied by a gorgeous, intimate black and white video featuring the band. It was directed and shot by singer/guitarist Lottie Pendlebury’s sister, Molly Ann Pendlebury and choreographed by her mother, Lauren Potter.

‘Words fell out’ is deeply personal. Lottie wrote the lyrics while watching drummer Rosy Jones struggle with addiction. “The song is about the helplessness felt amongst our friends as we attempted to nurture Rosy, a time that felt really hard to find words for. I wrote it to sort through the emotions that are pushed aside in the midst of dealing with a crisis. The opening line ‘I only want the best for you’ is the central theme, not only of the song but also our friendship,” explains Lottie.

Pre-Order Below The Waste

Below The Waste was co–produced by the band & John Spud Murphy (Lankum & black midi). Progressing from their angst-fueled self-titled debut (2018), to the escapist world of sophomore LP On All Fours (2021), the South London trio have entered their most self-assured era. Goat Girl’s approach to Below The Waste is confident and mature, while maintaining a playful sense of curiosity and wonder. They weave effortlessly between disparate elements of expansive noise-rock, delicate folk experimentation and satisfying synth-pop; their unique combination of styles and unorthodox recording methods a testament to a new collaborative style of production.

The record’s third single, ‘words fell out’ follows earlier tracks ‘motorway’ and ‘ride around’. ‘Motorway’ saw the band teaming up with world famous choreographer Holly Blakey, known for her work with Florence and the Machine, Harry Styles and Rosalia. The hypnotic video featured archival Vivienne Westwood pieces, styled by Matthew Josephs, known for his work with FKA Twigs.

Goat Girl will embark on a UK Outstore tour this week, followed by more dates in Europe and the UK this fall.
