Geordie Greep (black midi) today announces his London residency – a run of intimate and varied shows at Map Studio Cafe.

Old songs, new songs, great songs, long songs, non-songs, torch songs, love

songs, nice songs, odd songs, fake songs, mad songs and sad songs will all be

played by Geordie Greep at one point or another during his upcoming residency.

He is excited to present to you, finally, untrammelled and unhindered, the diverse

and many joys that warm his heart.

This will be a special cycle of shows where no one night is the same. It will

encompass a wide range of styles and approaches, collaborations with different

musicians and experimentations of different formats. Trio shows, solo shows,

ensemble shows, duo shows, improvisation, instrumental “serious” music,

ridiculous light-hearted music, songs you will recognise and many that you won’t.

There will be a number of the nights that take on specific challenges, or take

advantage of unusual or impromptu set-ups – set-piece shows where you get to

see the rare phenomenon of great musicians solving problems in real time, playing

differently than they would usually have the need or occasion to.

He will write new music specifically for each show in the series.

“Music is the best thing in the world. There is nothing that can make you feel as

much in as short a space of time. One chord change can describe the universe,

and one wrong chord change dismantle it.

I hope you will enjoy my efforts to do

more of the former than the latter, and hope to see you all there.”
