Sleaford Mods’ UK GRIM out now – band to launch new album with TV special

Sleaford Mods are celebrating the release of the acclaimed new album UK GRIM with a specially commissioned television special which will be streamed on Saturday night (11 March) on YouTube.

With the band’s new record – which boasts collaborations with Dry Cleaning’s Florence Shaw and Perry Farrell’s Jane’s Addiction alongside the duo’s angry yet wry minimalist electro – out today (10 March) Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson have announced they are bringing back their very own show, SMtv, to showcase and celebrate their new music.

The programme, which was made with filmmakers from the pair’s native Nottingham, will feature live performances, videos, a brand new interview, conversation with British artist Cold War Steve who created the video for the album’s title track, and much more.

SMtv will be premiered exclusively through the band’s YouTube channel from 9pm (GMT) on Saturday night, and viewers are encouraged to join Sleaford Mods in the live chat as the show goes out.

SMtv was first conceived when the lockdown forced Sleaford Mods to cancel all their live activity around the release of their last album, 2021’s Spare Ribs, and having enjoyed being “internet television sensations”, not to mention directing their own TV show, Jason and Andrew decided to bring the format back to introduce listeners to UK GRIM.

Following a Saturday night spent round the telly (or smartphone), the duo will then stage two special gigs to debut UK GRIM live.

Sleaford Mods play a sold out hometown show at Nottingham Rock City on 14 March, followed by a sold out gig atPryzm in London, in conjunction with record shop Banquet, a day later on 15 March.

Sleaford Mods will also stage a Tim’s Twitter Listening Party for UK GRIM, which will see the band and Tim Burgess hosting a virtual, track-by-track playlist of the record on the social media platform on Thursday 16 March from 9pm (GMT), with listeners invited to join in and leave their own comments and impression of the record. Visit www.timstwitterlisteningparty.com or follow Sleaford Mods on twitter for details of how to take part.

Sleaford Mods have also announced their biggest tour yet, which will take place in November and December.
